How card rip apps make money: five sources, four sized

Where the money stays between buying a pack and cashing out, for all 27 rated apps, from their own published numbers. Read on 7 October 2026. Nothing was tested and no margin is estimated.

Five places the money comes from

Each is counted from the apps' own pages. The first four can be sized; the fifth cannot.

  1. 1Pack price gap5 of 13stated averages sit below the pack's priceLargest gap: 11.8% of the priceWhere a pack costs more than its cards are worth on average, by the app's own figure, the difference stays with the app.
  2. 2Sell-back spread9 of 17published rates pay under 100%Up to 15% left outThe instant offer is a share of the app's own valuation of the card.
  3. 3Fees6 of 9published selling fees are above zeroUp to 10%A fee off the sell-back, then charges to withdraw or to ship the card.
  4. 4Marketplace cut8 of 27state a fee on sales between usersFrom 0% to 10%Where users can sell to each other, the app takes a share of the sale.
  5. 5Money left in the account5 of 26terms read say a balance earns you no interestWhat the app earns on it: not publishedBalances waiting to be spent or withdrawn, charges and forfeits in the terms, and site credit.

These are places money stays, not profit. What an app pays for the cards it packs is not on any page read, so this guide gives no margin for any app. Who is behind each one is on who owns each app.

The sell-back offer below the app's own valuation

100% less the published sell-back rate: the share of the app's own card valuation that the instant offer leaves out. Where the rate differs by pack, the dataset records the lowest one, so the bar is that app's widest.

Every percentage is a share of a value the app itself sets. How that value is set, and how far it can sit from a sale price, is on fair market value. 7 apps say they have no marketplace at all.

What does not come back from $100

9 of 27 apps publish both an average value and a sell-back rate. For those, the average card sold straight back gives this.

One named pack per app, at its stated average, sold back at the published rate less any published fee. An average is not a typical pull, as odds explained shows. Run your own spend through the cash-back calculator.

Money that stays in the account

Float is what a business can earn on money it holds for customers. Of 26 terms pages read, none gives a figure for it.

These terms say money in the account earns the user nothing. None of them says what the operator earns on it.
terms say a balance earns you no interest5 of 26
have a charge or a forfeit on an account in their guide7
pay a sell-back in their own credit6 of 27

A clause that pays you no interest does not say the operator earns any. Fanatics Instant Rips' terms page could not be opened, so it is not confirmed either way. What happens to a balance if an app closes is on if an app shuts down.

Questions people ask

How do card rip apps make money?

Their own pages show five places. A pack can cost more than its stated average value. A sell-back pays a share of the app's valuation, sometimes less a fee. Withdrawing and shipping can carry charges. A marketplace takes a cut of sales between users. And money sits in the account between deposit and withdrawal. What an app pays for its cards is not on any page read, so no profit figure is given here.

Which source takes the most?

On published numbers, the sell-back is the larger and the more common. 9 of the 17 apps with a confirmed rate pay under 100% of their own valuation, by up to 15%, and 6 apps publish a selling fee above zero. The pack price gap is at most 11.8% of the price where it can be worked out, and 8 of 13 stated averages are at or above the price.

If the average value is above the pack price, how does the app earn?

The average is the app's own valuation, and the instant offer is a share of it. At Phygitals the stated average is $104 per $100 of pack, and selling it straight back pays $88.40. An average above the price also says nothing about what the app paid for the card, which is not published.

Do rip apps earn interest on my balance?

No terms page read says what an operator earns on money it holds. 5 of 26 say the balance earns the user nothing: Arena Club, Stadium Vault, GameStop Power Packs, Gemint, and Crown Cards. Fanatics Instant Rips' terms page could not be opened on 7 October 2026, so that one is not confirmed either way.
