Questions about how BOXED.GG works
How does BOXED.GG work?
You buy gems, at about one cent each, and spend them to open a box. One item is drawn from the box's drop table, which lists every item with its chance. The card goes to your inventory. You then sell it back for gems, pay gems to have it posted, or trade it in.
How does BOXED.GG make money?
Its own pages state: shipping or retrieval fee, withdrawal fee after price protection, fulfilment fee on a shipment and subscriptions. From its published numbers: box price above its drop table. Not published: pack price above average card value, fee on a sell-back and ethereum conversion. We do not estimate margins or what BOXED.GG pays for cards.
Can you turn BOXED.GG gems back into money?
No. The purchase terms say gems “cannot be withdrawn, sold, transferred, or converted to fiat currency”. The one cash route is withdrawing items as Ethereum, which needs an identity check, a verified phone and approval by hand.
Where do BOXED.GG's cards come from?
Its shipping page says single cards ship from its own US facility, where it holds stock, and Marketplace slabs ship from partners it does not name. Where it buys cards is not published.
What happens if you leave a card on BOXED.GG?
No automatic sale is described: the help centre says a card can stay in your inventory indefinitely. But price protection lasts 7 days. After that, the terms charge a fee in gems equal to any rise in the card's price before it can be shipped.
