Questions about how Lastpack works

How does Lastpack work?

You add money in a browser, buy a digital pack and one real card from Lastpack's stock is assigned to your Stash. For 7 days you can sell it back at the value Lastpack sets or pay to have it shipped. After day 7 it is sold back for you.

How does Lastpack make money?

Its own pages state: shipping or retrieval fee and balance on an account it cannot verify. From its published numbers: pack price above average card value. Not published: fee on a sell-back, its card value against market price and cash-out fee. We do not estimate margins or what Lastpack pays for cards.

Where do Lastpack's cards come from?

From its own stock. Its help centre says it owns, insures and stocks more than 200,000 cards at a warehouse in California; the count is its own. How it buys those cards, and what it pays for them, is not published.

How does Lastpack pay out?

Only as USDC to a Solana address, from $10, with two-factor sign-in switched on. Only money from cards you sold back can leave. Money you paid in cannot. Bank and card payouts are marked “Coming soon”, and no fee or processing time is public.

Do you own a Lastpack card when it is revealed?

Not by its terms. They say no sale has occurred and title does not pass until seven conditions are met, including a shipping request, sales tax, an identity check and a carrier accepting the parcel. Before that, a lost or damaged card is made good only by crediting Lastpack's value.

What is the catch with Lastpack?

Three things in its own pages. The 100% sell-back is 100% of a value Lastpack sets. A card left for 7 days is sold back, by the terms at the value from the day you bought it. And the money comes out only as USDC on Solana.
