Holds the cardPartner vaults: PSA, Fanatics and AltRead on the operator's own page “Physical cards are stored with independent vault partners (PSA, Fanatics, and Alt), each of which operates independently of Phygitals.” The terms add that the cards sit “in Phygitals' vault accounts on behalf of users”, so the vault's own customer is Phygitals. Checked 7 Oct 2026. Open the source | TitleYoursYouRead on the operator's own page “You retain full legal title and ownership of your physical cards at all times. The coloured tags are our reading of each clause, not a rating and not a legal opinion. “Silent” means a search of the document for insolvency, bankruptcy, closure, custody and title wording found nothing. A general right to “discontinue the Service” is not counted as a closure clause.

They are close to one clause. Three share most of their wording.

The furthest any app goes, in its own words
“Because your cards are held in custody — not owned by Phygitals — they are not subject to the claims of Phygitals' creditors in the event of insolvency or bankruptcy.”
Its Terms of Service are more guarded. A claim window is:
“subject to applicable legal constraints, court orders, and the rights of creditors under insolvency proceedings”
Both are the company's own statements, read on 7 October 2026. Whether the first holds is for a court, not a terms page. Phygitals: Business ContinuityNo commission Phygitals: Terms of ServiceNo commission
Whose card is it while it is stored?
Title is the word the terms use for ownership. It is where the apps differ most.
10Yours, in words
The terms say you own the card, or hold title to it, while it is stored.6Only implied
Not stated outright: it shows up in a sell-back or seller clause, a line that names no owner, or attached terms that may not apply.6The app's until it ships
No sale, and no title, until the card is with a carrier or in your hands.
Yours from the moment you payFanatics Instant Rips, Fanatics Collect Terms of Use, including its Vault Terms“For an Instant Rip, legal title to each card allocated to you transfers to you upon completion of the Instant Rip, allocation of the card to your Account and successful completion of payment.”
Not yours until it shipsPackz, Terms of Service“Until a Sale occurs, there is no transfer of title to the Item and You have no ownership interest in the Item.”
Where title stays with the app, a pull you have not shipped is a promise from the company, not a card you own. What that is worth if the company fails is not something we can tell you.
Who physically has the card
A vault is a building run by a company. It is not always the company you bought the pack from.
10The app itself
The terms put the card with the app. Some add storage providers they do not name.9A separate vault company
Phygitals, Underdog Rips, GameStop Power Packs, Ripit and Beezie name the vault, the last two on a help page. The others name none.7Terms do not say

What you can do today
None of this needs a clause to work.
- 1Find your app's title lineUse the table above. “Yours” and “the app's until it ships” are different positions to be in.
- 2Ship what you would hate to loseA card in your hands depends on no clause. Vault or ship has the costs.
- 3Do not park money in the app1 of the 4 closure clauses mentions wallet balances at all. See how each app pays out.
- 4Keep your own recordOrder emails, certificate numbers and a screenshot of your vault. A return process has to check who owns what.
- 5Keep your email currentEvery closure clause we read promises a notice, and two name email. The 3-month window is short.
What a terms page cannot settle
A clause is the failing company's promise
It says cards will be returned. Only Phygitals mentions anyone else acting: it “or its appointed agent” would check who owns what. The law sits above the terms
Insolvency rules differ by country and state. A court or liquidator decides, not the clause.Terms change

An app with no clause may still hand cards back. An app with one may not manage to. We did not look for a case where either was put to the test.Questions people ask
What happens to my cards if a card rip app goes out of business?
It depends on the app, and mostly the terms do not say. 4 of the 27 apps we rate have a clause: each gives 3 months to claim the card, at your own shipping cost. The other terms we opened are silent on closure.
Do I own the cards in my vault?
10 of 27 apps say so in words. At 6, the terms say title does not pass until the card ships or is in your hands. The rest imply it or do not say.
Does the vault's insurance cover the app closing?
Not on the wording we read. The insurance passages in the Courtyard, Arena Club and Phygitals terms cover the cards in the vault. None of them mentions the company failing, and Phygitals ties its cover to a card “lost or damaged while in custody”.
Is this legal advice?
No. It is a reading of public terms pages on one day. For a card worth real money, read the current terms yourself or ask a lawyer where you live.
