Grading for card rippers: whose slab, and what a 9 costs
A rip app hands you a card that is already graded. Two things on the label set what it pays: the company and the number. Both, from operators' own pages.
By Alexander Korsager · Checked 7 October 2026 · We earn nothing from any app on this site

One grade down pays $918 less: the 9 is valued at 26% of the 10. Values are Collector Crypt's own, at its 85% sell-back.
Which grader's slabs each app packs
Read on each app's own pages on 7 October 2026. A filled dot is a grader the app names in words; a half dot is a label on cards its page listed that day.
- named in words
- seen on its cards
- not named, not seen
- All fifteen slabs the $50 soccer pack's checklist showed are described as “graded by PSA”. None carried Arena Club's own grade.Page read (no commission)Arena Club review
An empty circle means not named and not seen on the page read. It is not a finding that the app never packs that grader. 9 apps name or show PSA alone.
Arena Club grades cards itself. Its pack showed PSA.
Arena Club runs its own grading service, with sub-grades on the label. The fifteen slabs its $50 soccer Slab Pack listed were all described as graded by PSA. Whether any pack holds an Arena Club grade is not confirmed. Arena Club reviewThe grade-step ladder
One card, one grade at a time, at the value Collector Crypt shows for the slab. Its sell-back is a share of that value, so a grade step is a pay step.

- PSA 10$1,241 back on $1,460$1,372 to $1,550, 6 figuresthe top rung
- PSA 9$323 back on $380$360 to $400, 9 figures74% under the top rung
- PSA 8$281 back on $330$306 to $340, 3 figures77% under the top rung
- PSA 5$119 back on $140one figure90% under the top rung
Values are Collector Crypt's “Insured” figure on the slabs its marketplace search (no commission) returned, 122 cards matched. A rung with several figures uses the middle one. Another app's rate on these values is a sum, not that app's offer.
A 9 against a 10, four cards
The same card, one grade apart, both from PSA. The sell-back column is Collector Crypt's 85% of each value.
| Card | PSA 9 | PSA 10 | 10 ÷ 9 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Charizard ex#199 | $380$323 back | $1,460$1,241 back | 3.8× |
| Umbreon VMAX#215 | $2,250$1,913 back | $4,108$3,491 back | 1.8× |
| Rayquaza VMAX#218 | $1,250$1,063 back | $2,560$2,176 back | 2.0× |
| Mew ex#205 | $56$48 back | $290$247 back | 5.2× |
The gap is not a fixed share. Umbreon VMAX loses 45% of its value from a 10 to a 9; Mew ex loses 81%. A pack's stated odds give a value band, not a grade, so check which grade sits in the band: how odds are published.
Same number, different label
A 10 is not one price. Each bar is the same card at a 10, by the company that gave the grade, on one operator's page.

Rayquaza VMAX #218

Mew ex #205

Each figure is one operator's value for one slab on 7 October 2026, not a market price. It shows the direction: on these pages a 10 from another company was not valued as PSA's 10, in either direction. Whether an offer is fair is a separate sum: how apps set fair market value.
A grade you can roll
ripz.gg sells grading as a game: you pay gems, and a draw picks the company and the grade for a card you pulled raw.
- Express 1,000 gems flat, instant reveal27.8%
- Standard 700 gems flat, about 12 hours22.2%
- Economy 500 gems flat, about 24 hours16.7%
Chance of a 10 by ripz.gg's stated formula: tier factor × raw value ÷ PSA 10 value, capped at 50% (the red line). Each tier also charges 0.25× the expected uplift on top of the flat fee.
By its page, PSA, TAG, BGS and CGC are drawn from where each has a live price for the card, the odds come from PSA's population counts, and cards over $2,500 raw cannot be sent. Gems do not turn into money: ripz.gg review.
What the apps' own pages say
Four lines from terms and help pages that bear on a grade. Each links to the page it was read on.
The grader's name moves the offer
“Comparative data (e.g., the price difference between a PSA 10 and a CGC 10)”
No grade is promised
“Packz does not guarantee any grade”
Some packs hold no slab at all
“others may be ungraded, raw, or otherwise not professionally graded”
A grade can be rolled, not earned
“a provably-fair roll decides the company and the grade”
Is a second opinion worth the fee?
On Umbreon VMAX, the 9 sells back for $1,579 less than the 10. Set a grader's fee against that gap: the chance of the higher grade decides it.
Fees are each grader's cheapest single-card tier that covers the card at a 10, read 7 October 2026. BGS and TAG are not confirmed: their price lists could not be read. No source publishes the chance of a bump, so the grade, regrade or sell tool works out the chance you would need.
What this page cannot tell you
When a slab does arrive, check the cert number with the grader before a return window closes.
Questions people ask
Which grading company do card rip apps use?
Mostly PSA. On 7 October 2026, 23 of the 27 rated apps named PSA or showed PSA slabs on their own pages. 12 named or showed CGC, 11 BGS, 2 SGC and 2 TAG. 4 sell raw cards, name no company or could not be read.
How much less is a PSA 9 worth than a PSA 10?
It depends on the card. On Collector Crypt's marketplace on 7 October 2026, a PSA 10 was valued at 1.8× the PSA 9 for Umbreon VMAX and 5.2× for Mew ex. A sell-back paid as a share of value falls by the same proportion.
Is a CGC 10 worth the same as a PSA 10?
Not on the pages read. Courtyard's help page lists the price difference between a PSA 10 and a CGC 10 among the things its offer is built from. Beezie showed one card at $495 as a PSA 10 and $380 as a CGC 10.
Does Arena Club pack its own graded cards?
That is not confirmed. Arena Club runs a grading service of its own, and its help centre calls Slab Packs packs of pre-graded cards without naming a company. The fifteen slabs one $50 soccer pack's checklist showed were all described as graded by PSA.
