Stated value against the market
On its own values, a Packs.com pack holds 90% of its price. At market prices the same cards come to less, and how much less depends on the pack.

Pack prices, chances and the app's values were read on 7 October 2026. A card with no market price is left out of both sums, so a pack marked with a plus holds more than its figure. Every card and its chance is on the pull checklist.
Where the gap sits
In 7 of 10 packs, more than half the gap is in cards the app values under $1. Pick a pack to see its split.

Each bar is that band's part of an average Chaos Rising pack: its cards' values weighted by their chances. Of the $2.43 between stated and market value, $2.23 (91.8%) sits in cards the app values under $1.
Cheap cards are also the hardest to turn into money: postage on a single card costs more than the card. To set one sell-back offer against a card's market price, use the offer checker.

What is a rip index?
One number we can read again on a later day. A pack index is what an average pack's contents come to at market prices, in cents per dollar of the pack's price. A basket is a fixed set of cards added up. An app index is what $100 of packs pays back through its sell-back.
Why is the market value below the stated value?
Mostly because of cheap cards. Across the 10 packs, cards Packs.com values under $1 come to $46.01 at its values and $23.65 at TCGplayer's market price. Its dearest cards sit much closer to the market.
Does a low index mean a bad pack?
It means the cards would fetch less on the open market than the pack costs. What you are paid is a separate sum: a sell-back pays a share of the app's own value, covered on the cash-out page.
How often do the indexes move?
Each time the prices are read, every index gets a new dated point. The first reading was on 7 October 2026, so most lines are short. A move is shown only once an index has two readings.
Why only Packs.com packs?
A pack index needs every card in the pack with its chance, and Packs.com is the one app whose full list we hold. The Packs.com review covers the app itself.
