Topps Instant Packs: a factory pack, not a repack

Topps keeps part of a real print run back, scans every card and sells it as packs you open on Fanatics Collect. Here it is beside Fanatics' own repack, Instant Rips.

What is in an Instant Pack

Fanatics publishes the average number of each card type in a pack. For Pristine the figures add up to exactly 4 cards: 2 base or insert, 1 refractor and 1 hit.

  • Autographs0.261 in ~3.8 packs
  • Autograph Relics0.11 in ~9.8 packs
  • Super Short Prints0.051 in ~21 packs

The bold figure is the average number of that card in one pack. Fanatics Collect's product page for 2025-26 Topps Pristine Basketball, read 7 Oct 2026 through a US page reader. The grouping into slots is ours.

Those are counts of card types. Nothing on the page puts a dollar value on any of them, so an Instant Pack has no published expected value. How to read each kind of table is in pack odds explained.

The other kind of odds table

An Instant Rip's odds are the reverse: dollar bands and an average value, and no word on which card.

What nobody publishes

Looked for on every page listed below, and not found.

Not published

Do the odds move as packs sell?

The set-aside is a fixed pile of scanned cards. No page says whether the odds shown are updated as it empties.
Not published

Same hit rates as hobby boxes?

Topps says the checklist matches. It does not say the set-aside holds hits in the same proportion.
Not published

How many packs exist?

Topps gives a share for one release, 10% of Chrome Black, and none for Pristine. No pack or card count is given for either.
Not published

When does the shipping waiver end?

The fulfilment fee is “currently waived” for Instant Pack cards. No end date is given.

What did a Pristine pack cost?

Topps' article gives no price, and the sold-out product page showed none on 7 October 2026. Chrome Black was $100.

Questions people ask

Is a Topps Instant Pack a repack?

No. Topps says the cards are a share of the physical print run, set aside rather than shipped as sealed boxes, and the Pristine product page names Topps as the seller. A repack is filled by someone other than the card maker from cards that have already left their factory packs, which is what Fanatics Instant Rips are.

Can I sell Instant Pack cards back to Fanatics?

No. Fanatics' help page says Instant Pack cards do not qualify for Instant Credit. Your ways out are to hold the cards, list them on the Fanatics Collect marketplace or ship them. An Instant Rip card can be sold back for 90% of its value less 6%, paid in credit.

How much does a Topps Instant Pack cost?

The first release, 2025-26 Topps Chrome Black Basketball, was $100 for 4 cards, with a limit of 6 packs a day. Topps' page for the second release, 2025-26 Topps Pristine Basketball, gives no price, and its product page was out of stock and showed none on 7 October 2026.

Are the cards real, and are they graded?

Topps and Fanatics both describe them as real, physical cards held in the Fanatics Collect Vault. They are raw: ungraded, as if from a sealed pack. Topps says each card was photographed before sale, so the card on screen is the card you own. This guide has not opened a pack to check.

Can I buy Instant Packs outside the US?

Not so far. Topps lists both releases as available to US collectors only. Fanatics' help page says Instant Packs are available in select countries and that some releases are limited to the US, without naming the countries.

Is an Instant Pack a break?

No. Topps' definition says the buyer purchases and opens an individual pack, with no shared box and no other participants. How a break differs from a rip is set out in the guide to rips and breaks.
